Welcome to The Kings Head

Nigel, Caroline and family would like to welcome you to The King’s Head, Sutton Bonington.  We are a local family run cosy country pub, that is both child and dog friendly.  Nestled in the pretty village of Sutton Bonington the pub is situated on Main Street, with the local children’s park and playing fields just a few strides away.  We are lucky to have the beautiful River Soar right on our doorstep, with many lovely walks for all abilities, and boats meandering by.

We serve honest, homemade, traditional meals including Weekly Specials from our kitchen, which are updated regularly with the seasons.  Our freshly prepared to order, Fish & Chips (using our ‘secret recipe’ batter) are a must, a definite favourite among our locals! Bring a hearty appetite!

Our full menu, including the Fish & Chips, Fresh Baked Pizza and Sunday Lunches, are all also available for takeout.

Every Sunday we serve our Home Roast Dinners from 12 til 3 pm, which are very popular, there is also a Sunday Menu.  We suggest you book to avoid disappointment, bookings can be made by phone 01509 672 331 or via facebook page.  You can find our weekly choices on Facebook.

We now also offer Afternoon Teas, booking is required.  See the page for more information.

Our real cask ale cellar run by Nigel the “Grumpy” Landlord. “Probably the best pint of Bass in the area” is always available. During special events a larger range is often put on and we will announce them on Facebook page.  The bar stocks a good range of wines including Prosecco, ciders, bottled beers and chilled lagers.
We can cater for special occasions and large parties, and we have our new Bistro Room which is free to hire.

Nigel, Caroline and family look forward to welcoming into their home.
See you soon x

Could you let me know what your menu would be on Thursday the 12th of July. We are trying to find a nice place to take my father for a meal for his 85th birthday.

    1. Hi Elaine, Our main menu remains the same until probably September/November :). Our weekly Specials will go up on the Tues/Weds which you can pick up on here or our FB page. Is there anything special that vyou require, maybe a favourite of his we haven’t got on the menu? Let us know if we can help. Cheers Caroline

Thank you, Kings Head, for having donated the bottle of wine I won at the Dogs Trust Fun Day on 31st July. I didn’t expect donated wine to be so nice – it was lovely! I haven’t been to your hostelry (we live in Derby), but such a nice gesture would certainly persuade me to visit if I find myself in your neck of the woods.

    1. Glad you liked it Alice. We really aren’t far from Derby so do pop over sometime x

What is happening tomorrow? Do I need to book

    1. You will need to book if you are eating in, we just need your name, number and post code. If you’re drinking its outside only until kitchen hours finish.
